Graham Riley

Graham came to San Francisco in 1998 from Manchester, England where he had worked in the funeral industry for several years. He was employed with Halsted N. Gray - Carew & English while attending the San Francisco College of Mortuary Science in order to become more qualified in all the technical aspects of his chosen profession.

Instead of returning home to resume his career after graduation, as had been his plan, Graham, chose to complete all certification requirements while at this firm and has been with us since. Graham, a California-licensed embalmer, also holds a California Funeral Insurance license and is extremely knowledgeable in pre-arranged funeral programs. 

His interests include fitness, bicycling, and music. Graham participates in the annual 545-mile AIDS Lifecycle ride from San Francisco to Los Angeles, California, which raises thousands of dollars for the San Francisco Aids Foundation and L.A. Gay and Lesbian Center. 

Graham feels privileged when a family entrusts their beloved into his care. Working in San Francisco, he has met with many families and taken care of young and old, which has allowed him to reflect on his own life and what are truly our priorities.

Jefferson Lee

Jefferson is our liaison to the Chinese community in the Bay Area and has been in this industry for about 25 years, more than 10 years of which have been with this company. He is well-known throughout the San Francisco Bay area as a licensed funeral director and funeral home manager as well as High Priest and Chief Operating Officer of the Ching Chung Taoist Association of America, which was established in 1978. 

Jefferson resides in San Francisco with his wife and his two boys. Jefferson was born in Hong Kong where he first became involved with his family, in the Taoist religion and ceremonial funeral practices. His languages include English, Cantonese, Mandarin and other village dialects. Jefferson's knowledge of Chinese cultural traditions, faiths and practices is extensive and in his dealings with families, he is both meticulous and extremely caring. 

His interests include playing Chinese classical music, cooking, Tai Chi, and 4-wheel off-roading.

Carol Giovannini

Carol is Vice-President and General Manager of Halsted N. Gray - Carew & English. A native San Franciscan, she grew up next to a funeral home where she spent time and decided in her senior year at high school that funeral service would be her career. After attending San Francisco City College, she enrolled in the San Francisco College of Mortuary Science and, after graduating, became employed with the firm then known as "Halsted and Company" where she completed her apprenticeship training and certification, and has stayed with the company for more than 40 years. 

She has served on the Board of Directors of Selected Independent Funeral Homes, and was a member and Past President of the S.F. Chapter of Executive Women International (EWI). Carol is a licensed Funeral Director, Embalmer. 

Her interests include fitness, gardening, cooking, music and animals. She has felt fortunate to work in such a rewarding profession, helping others through one of the most difficult times in their lives.

Taeko Morioka

Taeko has been assisting Bay Area Japanese families with their funeral arrangements for more than 20 years. A native of Tokyo, Japan, she moved here in the 1960s and also teaches beginning to advanced Japanese language arts and culture at elementary, college and adult levels. 

A funeral consultant and licensed pre-arrangement insurance agent, Taeko conducts funeral-related workshops throughout the Bay Area's Japanese community. She is keenly aware that in her culture, the funeral is an extremely important event and takes very seriously her role in this process.

Michael Dane Stanley

A Napa Valley native, Dane has been with Halsted N. Gray - Carew & English since 1996. A licensed Embalmer and Funeral Director, Dane is a graduate of San Francisco College of Mortuary Science and California State University. He is a US Air Force Veteran and has worked in the funeral profession for over 40 years. 

Dane lives in San Francisco with his wife and Jody the Cat! His interests include running, music and bicycling. He has ridden across the U.S. on a ten-speed and plans to do it again when he's ninety. He is grateful to be in a career that offers the daily opportunity to help make an extremely difficult time a little easier for others.
