Eileen Teresa Blaskower passed away in her sleep in her home in San Francisco on September 2, 2017 just short of her 98th birthday.
She lived a rich life full of family and friends. She is reunited with her beloved husband, William E. Blaskower, her daughter, Lynn M. McKannay and her granddaughter, Adrienne McKannay, as well as her many friends and family who predeceased her.
Eileen was a native San Franciscan who was proud of her Italian heritage and lived her entire life in San Francisco. She attended Yerba Buena Grammar School and Galileo High School.
She was very proud of never getting a driver’s license and getting everywhere she needed to go in the City by either walking or taking the bus. Eileen was a longtime volunteer at the American Cancer Society and also worked for her brother as a bookkeeper for many years before retiring. During her retirement years she traveled with her husband to the college graduations of her grandchildren, played cards with her friends, and occasionally played 9 holes of golf with her husband (when she could talk him into it).
To Eileen, her family, friends, and faith were most important. She always looked forward to hosting family gatherings for birthdays and holidays at her home. Her grandchildren spent their school years visiting or staying at their grandmother’s house. She especially liked to encourage her grandsons to eat vegetables and always wear an undershirt. Eileen was the family seamstress, sewing beautiful outfits for her daughters and granddaughters. She also enjoyed knitting for her family and various charities.
She is survived by her daughter, Sharon Jocelyn (Bob), her grandchildren, Sarah Tate (Eric), Nick Jocelyn and Matt Jocelyn, her son-in- law, Richard McKannay, her twin sister, Evelyn Morris, her sister-in- law, Dolores Blaskower, her niece, Donna Carter (David), her grandnephew, Adam Carter (Kim), her nephew, Tony Pastene, her nieces and nephew, Maureen, Kristine and Charlie. Her parents, Nicolo and Palmira Pastini and her brother, Ray Pastene, predeceased her. The family wishes to gratefully thank her wonderful loving caregivers, Lourdes, Mae and Rose.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the Lynn McKannay Memorial Tuition assistance Fund in care of the Development Office at Town School for Boys in San Francisco, or, to a favorite charity.
