On Friday, August 31st, 2018, Helen Yee (née Gee), passed at the age of 84, after a brief time with cancer. Born on October 29, 1933, and raised in the village of Dikhoi, County & City of Toishan, Canton Province, China, Helen came to the United States in 1952. She married Raymond Yee (predeceased 2004), a San Francisco native, and started their family in the City by the Bay. She worked as a teacher at Head Start. Following that Helen took classes at City College and obtained a certificate of Early Childhood Development; Helen worked for the Department of Public Health for twenty years at Chinatown Child Development Center. She was dedicated to early child development and education. She was very involved with church work, and an active member of fellowship, Bible study and prayer groups. When her mobility was compromised, she continued to be a prayer warrior.
Helen loved God and loved others. She loved God with reverence and obedience; she was tirelessly supportive of her husband; she was fiercely protective of her children and sincerely cared for others. Helen will be lovingly remembered by daughter Ivy (David Sakamoto), son Ivan (Grace), god-daughter Christine (Antonio Trinh), and many nieces, nephews.
