Passed away peacefully at the age of 90, on September 15, 2017 in San Francisco. Beloved wife of the late Michikazu Nakai, mother of seven children and loving grandmother of seven grandchildren. Mitzi was born in Santa Clara on April 1, 1927. After graduating from high school, she attended San Jose State University before going on to Stanford Nursing School, graduating in 1950. She worked at Mt. Zion, St. Francis and Children’s Hospitals, retiring in 1992.
She loved playing slots and bingo, either at the casinos and bingo halls or on the computer. She and Dad always had their Tahoe/Reno trips mapped out ahead of time. She never said no to going out to dinner or to watch the grandkids play basketball, do gymnastics or march with their drum corps, or sing and dance at school performances.
After Dad’s passing, she joined the Senior Center near home, taking their jewelry classes and going to Friday bingo. Now she liked taking trips to the hobby shop or bead store for supplies, and dove into making jewelry for all her girls.
