William "Bill" Richard Swiatek was born Jan 5, 1950 to Kathleen and Stanley Swiatek in Medina, New York. Kathleen, performed the British version of the USO, It was during this time she met her future husband Stanley, stationed at a military base in Italy. Bill's family moved several times, the next to Hawaii, where his younger brother Robbie was born in 1952. Eventually the family settled in Colorado Springs, Colorado, after living in such scenic areas, Bill gained appreciation for landscapes, the outdoors, nature, architecture and in the symphony they represented in design, he found his calling.
Bill pursued a degree in design and drafting, worked as a award winning master draftsman and interior designer for top architecture firms in Colorado. It was here where he was able to combine his trained skills as a draftsman, with his keen eye, and inherent talent for design, color, and style. Bill had a special appreciation for art deco, and mid-century design and the great early architectural and automotive designers. Bill's gift was his ability to interpret these styles artistically into his own designs and convey this to clients with taste and elegance which made his work both memorable and fun.
While on a trip to San Francisco to visit his brother Bobby, Bill fell in love with California and its diverse landscape, colorful people, easy way and moved to San Francisco. Bill made countless friends in the 1980's in San Francisco, and was a part of many cultural milestones during this important time. After establishing his design work in San Francisco, he landed several notable interior design contracts throughout California Los Angeles, Palm Springs, Palo Alto, and San Francisco and also New York and Denver.
While working on a design project in Palm Springs and living in his classic 1966 Clark Cortez RV, he came to foster a young rambunctious pup named Max. Adopting Max enriched Bill's life and he enjoyed taking his "golden boy" Max on daily outings to SF parks and beaches.
Bill is survived by his loving mother Kay, his loyal dog Max and countless friends and loved ones who were fortunate to have known and loved Bill and enjoyed the short time we got to spend with him.
We love and miss you always Bill.
